The Heinkel pictured above, while on approach to Cheyenne, WY. in July 2003 suffered engine failure before landing, and crashed. No survivors and the aircraft was destroyed. This was the last Heinkle 111 flying in the world. In addition, this aircraft was once the personal transport of Franco who was dictator in Spain during the war, and for many years after. In addition to the tragic loss of life, a valuable piece of history has also been lost.
Throughout the year, the Museum schedules visitations of aircraft and sometimes non-aircraft items we feel will be of interest to the public. We attempt to schedule these well in advance and post this information in the Events section of this site. More often, however, these planes show up on short notice and add to our collection momentarily.
When you arrive for your visit, you never know what you are going to find sitting on our ramp.
