STAN STOKES
Artist

With more than 38 years as a full time artist, Stan has produced literally hundreds of aviation related paintings documenting historical events, people and places. He researches his subject with attention to the accuracy of the smallest of detail. Two murals he has painted are on display at the Palm Springs Air Museum. "Dauntless at Midway" is 12 ft. by 34 ft. and "Corsair on Approach" is 19 ft. by 55 ft.

In 1975 he won first place in the Benedictine Art Awards, and in 1984 won first place in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's "Golden Age of Flight" art competition. In May, 2000 Stan was honored with the "R.G. Smith Award for Excellence in Naval Aviation Art" by the Pensacola Naval Air Museum. His work is highly sought after by museums and private collectors. Stan's art has been published in numerous books and periodicals including the just published book Flying Aces .
